My sweet best friend Christina has two daughters and a son. The oldest daughter Tasha got married almost 2 years ago, and next summer we get to have a June wedding for the youngest daughter Ashley!
Some people scoff at young marriages, but those same people scoff at quick marriages too. When you Know, you Know. If a darling boy and girl happen to Know at the tender age of 16, gets engaged a respectable year later, and plans a wedding for the next June - who are those people to judge?
Anyhoo. Wedding. Next June!!
We're brainstorming about how to have a romantic reception for 150 guests in the church gym, and we've got a few ideas. The good news is there are no bleachers to contend with. The bad news is the flooring is 12" square plastic tiling with little triangle shaped holes in them.
One - drape the ceilings with white sheets and white light strands, painter's dropcloths on the floor, and a platform in the center for the cake to be on display.
That would be A LOT of white sheets, white light strands, and painter's dropcloths.
Two - set up a rental tent or four INSIDE the gym, and just decorate a walkway to the tent.
That would be easier, but how would a tent be set up without soil to drive the stakes in? And air conditioning - how would that work?
Anyone have any ideas?

There is a party supply store in Mt Vernon that has a cloth tent held up by very large white helium balloons. Not a clue what that would cost in comparison to the traditional tent style. Maybe a local vendor would have similar option or helpful suggestion for you. I didn't get to see it but hear tell it was dramatic, beautiful, memorable, and erased the gym from memory.
