The Day I Got PUNKED

Things that should have tipped me off but didn't because SHEW they are good party throwers:

1) My invitation -invitations? what? when have we ever had invitations printed for a party at Thithy's house?- had 6:00pm crossed out and 6:30pm written in.  I just thought she printed them with the wrong time, ran out of ink, and didn't have time to print correct ones.  That's what I would have done.  I bet she about peed herself laughing when I RSVP'd.

2) Usually if we're planning to party at their house, and I say, "Want me to come early and help?" she will say "Sure, come over whenever you want."  This time she said "No, blah blah blah, won't be home until blah blah blah, have to pick up blah blah blah.  Just come at 6:30."  Of course I didn't argue, because she had ...

3) ... kept Zesty overnight for me.  It was fantastic.  Mr Lemon worked, Z was at his second Mom's house, and it was just Pinky and Momma.  I had time to go do some packing over at the old church with only one child to entertain instead of two.

4) When we were almost to her house, Splenda started asking excitedly "what time IS it? WHAT TIME are we supposed to be there?"  And to my surprise, there were a bunch of people already there.

5) When Thithy sent me up to the kitchen to grab a bag off the counter, my in-laws were in the kitchen.  Again - I'm so gullible - I just thought my husband had asked them to come over since we were originally going to be in Florida with them this week. We cancelled our part of the trip to be here to remodel the new church.  I was all "Hey ... you're here too! Awesome!"

It didn't dawn on me that the whole thing was a carefully orchestrated surprise birthday party for ME until they all started hollering and made me turn around to see a birthday cake on the table that I had JUST WALKED PAST.  An Ohio State Football birthday cake (holla!)

Really, it's a miracle that I didn't find out.  Splenda is not known for keeping secrets.  For that matter, Mr Lemon and I have a very hard time keeping secrets from each other.  And, I'm so nosy, I usually know everything that's going on at church.  A big smile stretches across my face every time I realize they really did this just for me, and I feel so honored.

My thirtieth birthday is Saturday, but it's been one big celebration all week, thanks to Facebook for giving everyone ample notice to write on the walls of all of your friends on their birthdays.

This reminds me of getting engaged - all kinds of things that normally would tip me off. John told me later he couldn't believe I wasn't questioning everyting beforehand. :) :)

Happy birthday Mrs Lemon!!
