Stuff I've done today

I bought a gluten-free bread mix recently and stole my mom's Breadman bread machine to try it out.

Yuck.

Two things - I clearly don't know how to use a bread machine. Maybe I set it wrong, but I read the instructions. The bread looked fine - no air bubbles, crust looked like bread crust, but it tasted more like a cake. Only not sweet. It also did not lift out of the bread pan like the instructions said it would.

I had to dig it out with tongs.

The whole gluten-free thing is not set in stone anyways with Splenda, but I really wanted to make the effort.

From now on, Kroger's will be making the effort for me.

I've been working on some new worship music for practice on Saturday. Wow - we just discovered God of This City from Chris Tomlin, and it is incredible. Can't wait to sing it!

.........................................................

In other notes, the Spanking Spoon is quite effective as a discipline tool. Time outs usually work, but sometimes he needs Time In. It's my job as a mom to figure out that fine balance. Eskimo kisses are also delightfully helpful in diffusing a fussy baby situation.

.........................................................

Zesty is learning to follow directions pretty good so far. He will fetch a diaper, put stuff in the trash can, pick up his toys (sometimes), hand something to me if I ask him, hand something to someone else if I ask him. I'm trying to teach him "please" and "thank you." And he knows where to go if he wants to color. I use that term color loosely. Less coloring and more banging around two crayons on a piece of paper.

.........................................................

Well, I better go finish burning supper. What've you done today that the internet deserves to hear about?

we are gluten free here too, try again with the bread. sometimes it takes a few tries to get it just right. i have yet to find a mix that we like, i mix all my own flours, and it is well worth it. we do not like any of the bean flours (garbanzo, fava, soy) most mixes contain at least one of these. good luck! keep up the good work.
our favorite flour mix is easy!
3C milo (sorghum) flour
3C potato starch
2C rice flour - brown or white
1C corn starch or corn flour (not corn meal)
mix well makes 9C store in the freezer and use where ever recepie calls for "flour"

hope this helps!

Sorry about your bread experience! I used to want a bread machine, but now I realize how much I like someone else baking it!! LOL

Go Zesty!! I love the ice cream pic!! So cute!!

I got our grapeseed oil at the local health foods (organic) store. It is 16 oz. bottle and it was $5. I still have over a half a bottle left and I started doing this back in June. I believe that it can also be purchased at most grocery stores too.

I took naps with either the newborn or the two-year-old pretty much all day long. When not trying to nurse and/or console the inconsolable newborn. :) Yep, fun times.

AMEN to the spanking spoon. My kids are very familiar with it. As they get older, they become less familiar with it. I guess it is because we knocked some sense into them. (I know that was a bad joke, but I couldn't resist. Plus, there just might be some truth to it!)

And, I LOVE THAT SONG! We sing it at our church. One time the choir sang it with photos of our city scrolling across the screen behind them. It was so moving!

Hey,

Watch blogging about the spanking spoon. I would hate to have someone who is non christian and not understanding of the whole spare the rod spoil the child thing land you on the wrong side of children services. Not to put fear in you but I've seen people in our own church stir up trouble just "because".

For the record this is Mr.Lemon. I would like to make a few points to those who may read the content of this blog.

1. First of all there is not a better wife or mother in the world than Mrs.Lemon. I completely trust her with my children and my life.

2. Secondly I would glady welcome any agency into my home. He who has nothing to hide hides nothing. We are on the same page regarding correction of our children and anyone would plainly see that we raise our children with love, patience and correction when needed. I would rather correct them now than see the state employees at the correctional facilities have to do the job we were suppose to do in the first place.

3. Lastly anyone who feels correction is not needed really does not truly love their children. The Word of God plainly points this out.

Yay, Mr. Lemon!!! As the Nana to these children, I appreciate the loving discipline that you all give to my grandchildren. I've got your back on this.

Mrs. Lemon, so sorry that the mix didn't work with the bread machine. Keep trying. (HUGS)

Keep trying with the bread. There is a lady at work who makes her own bread because she is trying to be gluten free. She says she tries several recipies until she finds one she likes.
