Tying up loose ends

I guess I did kinda leave you hanging without an after-picture of the haircut, huh? Sorry 'bout that. He's not really in a picture taking mood, as he has RSV going into bronchiolitis. And the snot - it is everywhere.

And, I also left you hanging without pictures of my new niecy ... that is because Mom and Dad are the only ones with pictures. The Great Snow-In of 2009 has prevented me from trekking northward to take my own pictures.

Stupid snow. 9-10" deep with a tasteful filling of ice.

What else have I let you down on? Oh! I haven't told you my latest find on Freecycle.

Formula. That's right. When we weaned Zesty to formula, I got a reality check in the form of the cost of formula.

Thank God I was able to breastfeed him as long as I did. My number one reason was the cost savings, then secondly the health benefits.

(Of course I cared about the health benefits. But many babies grow up to be healthy, hale individuals whether or not they consumed mother's milk. Don't go all La Leche League on me - we decided this was the best course of action for our family at this time.)

(Back to my story.)

So after about the second can of formula we bought, after using up the samples we got when he was first born, I started searching Freecycle for formula checks. I got in touch with one lady who had an unopened 12oz can and a $7 check for Enfamil Next Step. When I met up with her, she also had located a full (unopened) 24oz can as well. AND - when I spent that $7 check, I found that WalMart had two cans with an extra free 20%, making it a 28.something oz can.

chaching!

She's also mailing me another sample can and coupon soonish.

I'm all about the free stuff. I have no pride. My pride was thrown out the window when my best friend and my sister in law watched me deliver a baby.

OK, I will wait for the after picture. You can keep the snot to yourself.

And, I understand about pride. The whole birthing a baby thing really does rob you of your pride...forever, or so it seems.

Oh, you can keep that whole snow and ice to yourself as well. I am ready for May right about now!

I laughed out loud at the La Leche League comment! I have a La Leche story, but I'd have to email it to you. It wasn't one of my finer moments....

Tater Tot was a bottle-baby from the get go, and you've seen pictures on the blog. Healthy? Happy? Oh, yes ma'am, he is!

We were at my primary care doctor's office one day and one of the nurse practitioners and his wife had a son about Tot's age, and we were talking about nursing/formula, etc. When he found out what we were using, he said, "That stuff is expensive. We have tons of it in our samples closet that the company reps leave with us. Just call us and ask for a FEW CANS the next time you run low." The he came in with about 6 big cans.

I'm just sayin'......

Not that you want advice about formula, I'm sure, but I can't resist. Parent's Choice (the Walmart Brand). It's about half price of the others (or it was 8 years ago)and the only one that didn't make Eldest sick. There aren't coupons, but if the coupons ever run dry....I'm just saying.

Wish I could wean Charming to something.

Anything.

Free formula rocks!

I had to wean my babies at about the same age. Loved the La Leche comment.

we have a bulk item store here in CA called Costco. They have the brand in large size and also their own brand that is even less expensive. I also found that signing up on the website of the brand that is best for zesty, gets you 5-7 dollar off coupons. I had my Mom and MIL sign up to!

Hope that helps,
Blessings,
S
