summoning my strength for the week

They must have real estate agents writing the text of pantyhose packages. No waistband! $1.00 off coupon inside! That being interpreted is "When you bend over, there is no waistband! to keep this garment in place. It will roll down your leftover baby pooch in a decidedly uncomfortable manner. But hey, we'll include a $1.00 off coupon inside! to lure you to buy them again."

*sigh*

I stuck a roast in the crockpot so we could have something substantial for dinner after church last night. Try this! you'll like it! Get a roast. Get some Dale's sauce at WalMart. Sprinkle steak seasoning liberally over the roast, pour Dale's over it, and turn the roast to coat. Add a can of cream of mushroom soup, and cook on low for 8 hours or whatever. The gravy is to die for.

(No vegetables or onions need apply.)

(Except mashed potatoes. For the gravy.)

Zesty will not take a bottle during the day, but nursed three times in the night last night. I feel obligated to nurse him then, because I know he hasn't had much milk the day before. How do I break him of this? I've tried working a starter sippy cup into the routine, but he doesn't tip it up yet to get the liquid out. Same with the bottle. He'll reach for it, but then just holds it upright and chews on the nipple.

And I'm convinced he's only going to have those bottom two teeth for the rest of his life. I was certain more teeth were breaking through, but nada. Zilch.

Mmm, the roast sounds heavenly. What type of roast do you buy?

If Zesty isn't ready for a cup put it away and try again in a few weeks.

(I don't know - top shoulder? it was beef. It's what's for dinner.)

Thanks for the roast tip! I just might have to venture away from chicken for a day and try some beef. I think I have some of those pantyhose. Nothing like running to the restroom to put everything back in place. So fun!

LOL on the pantyhose--I HATE pantyhose.

Great tip on the roast!! We love roast around here. I make Beef Tarragon a lot here lately.

Zesty--I would keep offering the bottle or let him hold with you. You could just offer the sippy with food and just set it there and let him mess with it. That's what I did with my other kids. I also took the valve out so that when they did tip it up, they would get a little of whatever was in there and know that it was good stuff.

Zesty will come around. Don't worry. There is hope. It will happen when ready....HOLD ON!

Sweetie, just remember, Zesty is only 7 1/2 months old. It will probably be about 3 or 4 more months before he's really ready for a cup. Babies are never ready as soon as Mommies are! AND those teeth will come in! It takes lots of chewing and slobbering to wear those gums down! lol

My babes didn't like the sippy cups to start with until I lay them down on their backs to drink (just on the floor, not in the crib). This helped them realize there was food to be had from these odd-shaped objects before they could figure out how to hold them angling down toward their mouths. Ah, the things that seem like they should be easy for a kid but aren't!

And also, more teeth just mean harder bites, so enjoy those two cute little teeth while they're still the only ones he has :) My first got his bottom two at six months and I stressed every month thereafter until his top two popped out at 12 months. His siblings' teeth have come in much quicker and I find myself wishing I had enjoyed those six blissfully "two teeth" months with him rather than stressing over them :)
