And the pendulum swings

So. Last week was a week of scurrying to do everything we could do to increase the value of the house before the appraisal inspection. Turns out unless you have juggling clowns and a connection to the APPRAISAL MAFIA that there's not a whole lot you can do to increase the value of your home if there are foreclosures in the area and low market values.

Anyhow, it's all worked out, and we're closing Friday. Halleluyer.

The real story here is that Thursday afternoon oh, around, 4:30, Mr Lemon decided we should go ahead and paint that one wall downstairs.  Off to Home Depot we go, and we painted the lower half of the family room, the lower half of the toy room, and one whole wall (we have ledges, remember?)

So lovely.  Behr Amazon Stone, ladies and gents.  You won't regret it. We were very impressed with the coverage, since we just did the regular paint, no primer.

Friday he was so impressed with the results that we went back and bought Feather Plume. We definitely should have just waited until we were able to buy the Beher Premium Plus Ultra with the primer in it.  Two coats later and there are still noticably uneven spots.  Not to mention that Friday's painting escapade was done by myself, and apparently I was tired because - the cutting in was shameful. SHAMEFUL.  He even got that edger tool. Clearly I didn't read the directions because I really did an awful job with it.

Anyhow.  It will work out in the end once we concentrate on it.

All of that to say my original plan to continue to use my Curtains in the family room is null and void.  Because now Mr Lemon and the kids are in love with some furniture that is not at all the same style as the curtains. And if 80% of the family actually have an opinion about the furniture, I think I should listen :)

Wanna see? My Pinterest board for this room is taking shape.

(Pssst - if you're not on Pinterest, but you bookmark a lot of pages/projects and then lose the bookmarks? I will totally invite you. Email me.)

(You can still click on my board if you're not a Pinterest member.)

We're probably going to do away with the big red couch all together, since it limits me on rearranging, and we can't have that.  And the Curtains I will probably sell on Craigslist, since I've found some great drape material on Joann.com to play with.

Tell me.  If you were in the market for new-to-you drapes for two windows, complete with rods and brackets, would you pay $40? Is that too much? About right?
