I added the reply button. And like an idiot, I waited for someone else to comment to see what it looks like, instead of testing it myself.
But this new thing - this I like!

The html hack I implemented in my template was pretty much a waste of time. It doesn't develop separate threads of conversation like I had hoped. In a nutshell, all it did was build a link to the comment you were replying to, and insert the fluffity schmoola html code for that link into a new (but still old) comment box. It was just the same as if I were creating a new comment. For an example, look at the comments on that last post. Go ahead and click the reply button to see how ridiculous that looks.
You back yet?
Frankly, it looked confusing. I love my parents to pieces, but I looked at it and thought, "Mom and Dad are going to hate this when they get back from their 21 day internet fast."

So I started from scratch, and browsed for about an hour before I finally came across the IntenseDebate comment system. It met my criteria:
1) Free
2) Easy to install (upload your Blogger template, the hamsters behind the scene spin wildly on their wheels, and you download the new template)
3) Separate threads of conversation
4) Several options to log in
5) Free
I still want to tweak it a little, but I think I will like where it's headed.
Let's take it for a test drive, shall we? Leave me a comment with your favorite way to frolic in the snow, and also reply to someone else's comment to see what it looks like.
I'll go first.
