A retraction and a decoration

Maybe you weren't paying as close attention as I was when I realized my error, but when I wrote this post on Wednesday, I scheduled it for 12/9 thinking that 12/9 was a Friday. Next year it will be a Friday, but in our current year, 12/9 is Thursday.

Therefore, my statement that I hemmed Zesty's Christmas play costume "yesterday" is incorrect. I planned to do it today. Thursday. I actually have not yet done that. It is sitting right next to me, waiting for 6" to come off the bottom and the sleeves.  At this point it is 7:30pm, and my brain is shutting down rapidly, so if it gets done tonight, it will be a miracle from sweet baby Jesus.

I apologize for misleading you, my dear readers, into thinking that I have accomplished more than I have actually done in reality.

Also, Tuesday is not spelled Turesday. Clearly my proofreading skills are on the same mediocre level as my calendar skills.

What HAVE I actually done today? Well, thanks for asking.

Remember when I bought the curtains I'd been coveting for a year? My apartment living room looked like this:

My bedroom looked like this:

Can you say CROWDED?  And hello, wasn't Pinky just in that bassinet?

Back to today.  Today being THURSDAY, December 9, in the year of our Lord 2010.

When we moved in, I put the blue curtains back in my bedroom and have wrestled with what to do with the brown ones ever since.  We only have one set of the brown panels, and our new living room has two windows, which are not as wide as the bedroom windows.  Therefore, I think that if I did the simple thing and bought another set of those brown panels that they'd be too much curtain for the wall.  Also, we have not purchased furniture for the living room yet, so you see my predicament.

Today I got the brilliant thought that hey, those blinds over the sliding glass door are coming down piece by piece.  Instead of buying replacement vertical blind slats, what about those brown curtains?  Would the curtain rod be wide enough?  YES IT IS!

I took down the blinds and Mr Lemon installed the curtain rod for me just as quickly as he could so that I would please for the love of cheese stop pestering him about it, and looky!

Here's the view of the whole kitchen/dining room from the living room.

I love how it makes the space look.  I'm not anywhere near a formal dining room type of person, but it does give an appearance of semi-civility.  The new kitchen curtain coordinates great, and the brown is carried to the fruit bowls on the countertop.  I still have not painted (read: tax return! I will paint once we have our tax refund!) but we're decided on a chair rail, with a whitish/creamish/something on the bottom and Behr's Green Tea on top.  I think we're going to trim out the frame of the sliding glass door too. I'm very pleased with my progress.

All in a day's work.  Or two day's work, depending on how you read your calendar.
