9 weeks or less to go

I'm 31 weeks pregnant today.

I'm already slipping into that Mom I didn't want to be, the one who takes less pictures of her second born than the first born. Sprite is probably going to be relegated to group family pictures at Christmas, and pictures with captions like "Look how cute Zesty is holding ... wait, which baby is that again?"

So just in case pre-teen Sprite sobs one day "You don't love me! Zesty is your FAVorite!" This is for that moment in time.

Here you are, Sprite. You are laying sideways in my tummy, so no matter which side I lay on at night, you are kicking me or headbutting me. The right side of my belly is at least 1/2" further out than my left side. If you were a beam of light shining out of my belly button, it would not shine straight forward, but a leetle to the left.

I'm not complaining about your position. I'm thrilled to be able to still sleep on my back or on my tummy (sometimes).

You've also managed to stretch even the old stretch marks. I know, you're starting early to put your mark on this world.

I'm already as big around as I was with your brother - at BIRTH. To your credit, you've only cost me one pound so far. One pound. In 31 weeks. Thank you, sweetie. It's amazing, really. I mean, all the milk and eggs and POTATOES I've craved should have put more than one pound under my belt.

Here's your Momma, in all her purple shirt glory. Standing where she can be found most times of the day ... in front of the sink washing dishes, or about to get in the fridge.
