Okay, so there was only one question. But it was a good one!
Jamie asks, "What brand of Christian do you subscribe to?"
::clears throat for a song::
Welllll, Aaaah'mmm Aaaaaa(Sorry - a little piece of my 10-year-old self always wants to bust out in that old church camp song when someone asks "What religion are you?")
One God, Apostolic, tongue-talkin' holy-roller
Born again heaven-bound believer
In the liberating power of Jesus' Name ...
(And if you stay around long enough, my sister or some of my other friends might join in with the verses.)
In all seriousness, I am an Apostolic Pentecostal. The first and foremost part of my religious creed is that there is one God, and Jesus is His Name. I believe the plan of salvation is found in Acts 2:38, and it doesn't stop there. I believe in righteous living because it pleases God, not because it makes me look good. The long skirts and uncut hair is part of how I honor God in my life. The specific organization I belong to is the United Pentecostal Church International. I do not believe that only the people of the UPCI are the Church and Body of Christ, but that's a post for someone else's blog. Someone much more theologically minded than myself.
I completely enjoy living for God the way that I do. I strive to be as close to Jesus as I can. Nothing else matters if I can stay at His feet.
And (as the musicians come) I am not ashamed of who I am!

I'll join you in those verses. :D
But we have to sing/shout them at the top of our lungs, b/c really that is the only way that song should be sung! :)
You go girl! Way to stand up for what you believe. And, ain't church camp a grand thing! I'm 46 and still love to go to camp.
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. Nahum 1:7
Your years at Gateway and Bible camp well put to use girl.. Couldn't have said it better myself. You did mighty mighty good at explainin' it..
Love you girl,
Jodi
...I've been washed in the blood, sanctified by the spirit, brother I believe in holiness and I suggest you do the same...(almost singing too fast to keep up with the typing)I've been set free at a pentecostal altar-on-my-knees so you'll pardon me if I'm not ashamed...
Good job 'splainin'!!!
Give Zesty a big ole snuggle from Nana, 'cause I'm missing him mighty bad!!!
Shoot! Sica beat me to it! I used to know all the verses but I have since forgotten. Maybe if I had gone to sunday school camp this year I would have remembered.
I still know most of the words, even though I am ancient. But being a Sunday school teacher helps keep me young at heart.
Hold up . . . no tambourines? I thought the Pentecostals liked tambourines. Or is that the Assembly of God folk?
(Said with tongue firmly planted in cheek.)
Oh no. The tamborines, they abound. I try to instruct the choir members to at least, AT LEAST, keep them out of the microphones.
cuz I'm a onegodapostolic,tonguetalkin,holyrollin,bornagain, heavinbound,believer in the liberated pow'r of Jesus name!!!!!!
......One day I'd had enough of that evolution stuff, So I stood right up and said, "GOD'S WORD IS TRUE!"
Well, the teacher she just didn't know what to do....She sorta stood there just a shakin in her shoes....
and I can't remember all of it...it's been too long! lol
(As the musicians start to play quietly as you're giving your third and final ending.)

So I guessed right. Sorta. I thank you for satisfying my curiosity.
My camp songs were much tamer Southern Baptist versions like It only takes a spark, to get a fire going....
Whatever leads you to the Lord, I guess. ;)
Formulating post as we speak.
I don't think I have ever said this.. but I like this post!!!
