His hungry was growling

After some deliberation over continuing exclusive breastmilk until 6 months versus a few recent nights of Zesty waking up around 3am for a feeding, we decided to go ahead and start with some cereal this weekend. Splenda was up for a visit, so she got to see his first bites.

More like his first slobbers on the spoon.

Most of what I'd read/heard through the grapevine was to try him at his hungriest. He'll eat anything when he's hungry, "they" said.

Attention fictional "they": at his hungriest, trying something new is not the best idea. The best idea at that point is GIVE THE MAN A BOTTLE FORCRYINOUTLOUD.

Here he is getting acclimated to his Fisher Price booster seat. Puppy also approves.

"
Dear Mr Price: If you are reading this, I give this booster seat a very high rating. Easy to use, very safe, and portable. And we are planning to have another baby next year, so if Fisher Price would like to send us another one fo' free, we would be happy to accept and blog with glee.

Love and hugs,
The Lemons
And the first (or maybe second) bite:

He actually started swallowing the cereal Sunday afternoon, so that was delightful. He likes it rather warm and thick. "Groceries, Momma," he says. "Give me Groceries with a capital G."

I have to say the bottom picture where Mr. Lemon is feeding Zesty.. Zesty looks like his daddy.. (not the crying part.. the facial shape is what I am speaking of)
Hope all is well in the world of feeding Zesty his cereal.

Whoa, "they" must not have fed a baby recently.

Like the booster seat. We had one of those with the other kids.

Are you pg again?

We have a similar seat, just diff colors. I keep it in my car to use out. LOVE IT!! But mine wasn't free, how'd you do that?????

The Girl wasn't a fan of cereal at first, we mixed in a little baby applesauce and YUM. She became an eating champ.

oh and feeding them something new when they are hungry so NOT the thing to do! "THEY" must not have had kids.

(Mine wasn't free either. I'm counting on the power of google to get me a free one for the next one.)

YAY for Zesty!!

Wow, I agree "they" must not have fed a baby recently.

Daniel has been getting rice in his bottle for almost two months now because of the reflux but I think we'll wait a few more weeks before we go with the spoon.

I notice that LOL wasn't a no! to the pg question?!?!? Well????

Ohhhhh, "they" are so wrong. I remember once trying to feed my daughter some cereal when she was starving and she just screamed. She was looking for boobs and only boobs would do! You just follow your instincts, mama.

(it's a negative on the pregnant question! for now, anyways ...)

Mr. Zesty may look like his daddy in that last pic, but the scowl is all Mama! Believe me, I know whereof I speak!!! (Unfortunately, she inherited it from me!)

Yeah...I wouldn't try anything new when he is hungry. Alyssa would not swallow anything, except for breastmilk when she was starving. Usually I would try new foods between bottles or breastfeedings.

Hello, Mrs. Lemon!

Whew! What a week! I was so happy that you "came over and visited" the other day! I am having trouble getting some of the comments to come up, but my new BFF Anthony in techie support is working on it!

I love the whole Lemon, Zesty, Splenda theme you've got going on! Very Snazzy, indeed.

Speaking of Zesty, he is a mighty cute little lemondrop. We had the same booster seat and are so glad we didn't bother with a highchair. We loved that it was portable and took it to football games last fall when we tailgated. Hope a new one comes your way when you need it.

Just wait until you can add some applesauce or pears to that cereal! If he's anything like Tater Tot, you won't be able to get the spoon in his mouth fast enough! Keep the camera handy. And cover the floor with a plastic tarp! :)

Reading your comments are almost as fun as reading your blog! Your little lemon drop is ADORABLE!!! I can't believe he's almost five months already. Time flies....
I can't remember though how old mine were when they started cereal. I think L was around four months D was older. (He was such a GOOD nurser, though, he didn't want anything else.)
Good luck with the cereal and getting him to sleep all night. =o)
