I was just telling Mr Lemon this morning my two prominent memories of that day, 24 years ago.
I remember the judge asking me to spell my last name. I spelled my former last name. Then he laughed and said, "No! Your new last name!"
(Clearly I was dingy even as a 5-year-old.)
And then I recall getting to Kindergarten that afternoon, and Mrs Awesome Kindergarten Teacher had changed my name tag to reflect the new name.
I just get a little giddy every May 5th remembering how we have made this day special throughout the years. Not only did you choose us to be your daughters, but your whole family stepped up to fill the void of grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins.
For that matter, we joined your church, which has been so supportive of ministry ...
Wow.
Daddy, you changed my life.
I love you forever,
Your baby girl

My memory of that day, was trying to convince you that we weren't going to court because someone was in trouble. One of your friends had told you that only bad people had to see a judge.
This post has me crying happy tears for you. Love it.
Happy Adoption Day! Your dad really showed you the love of Abba daddy God. So thankful you had that.

There's no one more thankful than I that Ross has been in your life. I mean he prepared you for how to handle all my silly acting ways:) But seriously, he has helped you become the woman you are today and that is all I could ever want. Love your whole family babe:)
Mr. Lemon
One of the best thing that I have read in a long time. Thanks for posting.
OH, precious!
