Eleven ... and a half

Splenda's real birthday is in December, thusly competing with Christmas and other family events. This last year we had a party planned for her with a few of her girlie friends, and her aunt and uncle.

The weather shifted that afternoon with a vengeance, and no one was able to make it except her aunt and uncle and sweet little cousin. She was notably disappointed, so I lightly, jokingly, suggested that we have a half-birthday party for her this year so that snow would not be a deterrent.

Because I celebrate half-birthdays. And June is so much better than December for a birthday.

She brightened up immediately at that idea, therefore the Lemon Annual Half-Birthday Party For Splenda Tradition began yesterday. She had about a dozen of her church friends, a smattering of parents, two dozen cupcakes and sno cones at the park yesterday.

See the cupcakes?

Now you don't.

They all had a great time, and Splenda was muchly satisfied with having a "friends" party.

I decided yesterday was also a good time for me to take a new picture with Zesty - boy howdy, he is a lapful.

And his very first self-portrait ...

He is feeding himself with a toddler fork and spoon now, and doing pretty good actually. Crawling up and down stairs with ease. It's so cute - he wheels himself around at the top of the stairs to go down feet first, and when he gets to the bottom step, he keeps on crawling backwards - on the floor - until he touches the bookcase to be sure that he didn't miss a step.

Because missing a step is deep in his genes.

Something cool and bloggy and FREE! is happening here tomorrow! Stay tuned.
