Ye Olde Special Stuff Box

In all of my discarding of things I don't need, things I don't want anymore, and things that are just taking up a space I want to occupy at the moment, I found my Special Stuff Box.

I used to be THE BIGGEST PACKRAT ever. I had every report card, every award, etc. I just went through it to try and get it down to one smaller box. I even found a bar of soap from a hotel I stayed in during a youth trip in ... 1995. Oh if I had a scanner could we have fun with those pictures. My poof (can I get an amen from my UPC friends?) was THIS BIG. Sweet Lordy.

But I found some very precious things I'll never discard. Like the Ohio State Fair award from my lying cheating 12 year old self. I'll never throw it away because it reminds me to always be honest and not steal other people's words/stuff. I found my senior year memory book in which I have been rolling on the floor laughing at. Because I have a piece of toilet paper taped in there from my trip to Toronto. The Hard Rock Cafe bathroom had an attendant there, and I thought that was so fancy schmancy that I went back for seconds to get a piece of toilet paper for my memory book.

But what I am posting about today always makes me smile. You think you have life so hard as a kid, and that you have THE MEANEST MOM AROUND. Who NEVER LETS YOU DO ANYTHING FUN.

And then a gazillion years later you find these in your Special Stuff Box.







Allow me to provide the interpretation of my circa 1988? 89? handwriting. Spelling as is on the cards.

Recipe for Mom Bake at 350% growls
1 c. smiles
3 Tbsp. humor
4 p giggles (what's a p? packages? pairs? can't remember)
2 c. talk
5 t. kindness
10 q (quart?) Mom
1 c. mischief
dashes of doggie kisses

Mix in all the good things (except dash of DK)
Blend at Romantic speed for 1 min. Put in oven for 20 min.
Slightly sprinkle doggie kisses until covering the cake. Cool for 10 min.

Recipe for Liz Bake at 200% blushin's'
1 c. smartness
1 t. whines
3 1/2 Tbsp. smiles
dash of mischief
4 c. hungreyness
add in 1 c smartypants with hungreyness

Mix in smiles, smarts well.
Blend in whies and mischief.
Bake in love and laughter.
Take out when tanned.
Sprinkle on hungreness.
Enjoy!
