...will be new dishes. I begged and begged for apple dishes for wedding presents, and Mom came through with a set of 8 matching plates, dessert plates, bowls, mugs, a large platter, and a serving dish. Somehow Sica managed to get the exact matching nesting serving bowls for her own wedding a year later, and she gave them to me. Despite my penchant for breaking dishes - I have only broken one bowl. A few are chipped, and I can't find the mugs, but over 7 1/2 years of constant use, I think that's a pretty good record.
But I think I've outgrown the whole themed kitchen phase. I still love red, of course, and I found some baking dishes on Amazon that I love but can't find any matching dishes. Reds are so hard to coordinate too, without actually seeing them together.
So here's my thought. I think I'm going to find a ceramics shop around here that I can paint my own. Under careful supervision and someone else touching the hot kiln. Then I will coordinate everything else around them. Does anyone know how much doing a set of dishes like that might cost? I think it would be fun, and maybe a little different creativity outlet than I have ever tried before.
(Actually, that's inaccurate. Sica & I did ceramics one summer. But it was more of a thing that Mom signed us up for to get us out during the summer and quit eating everything in the house. I think Sica still has her sunflower plate, but my mug was broken a long time ago.)
